What is Paneer ?
Paneer is Cottage Cheese.It is easily available in the supermarket or any confectionary shop. You go to any sweet shop is Odisha , you won’t be disappointed in finding that.
You can make at Home curdling full fat milk. You can use vinegar or lemon juice to do the curdle process. Once it is curdled , the cheese and whey will be separated. You can collect the cheese and set to make Paneer at home.
Restaurant style Kadai Paneer Recipe
This dish is super delicious. Be it Delhi or Punjab the first count is a paneer dish if you thinking to have a vegetarian meal .They really make delicious soft homemade paneer. I remember those days in winter having this Restaurant style Kadai Paneer with Roomali at Delhi roadside Dhabas. A total Bliss!
Though I always suggest to use fresh blend masala .But for all those busy weekdays it’s always better to prepare before hand.
Masala of Restaurant style Kadai Paneer Recipe
When we talk about any Kadai Masala , the process differs in making the Masala paste.
Most of the Ingredients like Garlic , Ginger , Onion and Tomatoes are fried and cooled. Then a paste is prepared. That brings a smoky but subtle flavour to the dish.
Roasting the whole spices also release more flavours. Dry roasting is important, you need to do at slow flame . Keep an eye , you have to roast a little.
Capsicum is must. Kadai dish is just incomplete without this . It adds colour to your plate .

- 200 gm Cottage Cheese or Paneer
- 2 big tomato
- 3 onion
- 1 Green Capsicum
- 1 inch ginger
- 12 cloves garlic
- 2 tbsps coriander
- 2 tsps cumin
- 2 Dry Red Chilli
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 3 clove
- salt
- water

- Dry roast Coarinder, cumin,peper,clove ,chili and make a fine powder of it.
- Cut onion into cubes.Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan and start frying them.Once they are light brown take few of them to use in garnish.
- Add garlic,ginger to the pan and fry till they change colour around min.
- Add chopped tomato and fry for 2 minute. Take this mixture out and cool them in a plate.Make a smooth paste of this mixture.
- In mean time cut capsicum into large square cubes and fry in the same pan at high flame without adding more oil to it.Once they are light brown take them out.It will take 2 min in total.
- Now add 1 tbsp oil into and heat.Add prepared onion tomato paste to it.Fry for 2 minute.Add prepared spice powder,salt to it.
- Add 1/2 cup water and let it cook for a minute.
- Add fried capsicum and paneer cubes to it.
- Let it cool for another 2 minute at high flame.Its ready to be served.
- Garnish with fried onion and serve with roti or rice.
