Mathris are popular in Rajasthan .One can find different varieties of it.It is also enjoyed with hot jalebi in breakfast.

Whole Wheat Crackers Recipe
Mathris are mostly prepared with all purpose flour. I have replaced all-purpose flour with whole-wheat flour for a healthier version.
The hint of cumin brings an amazing flavor. I just love that.You can also add Ajwain or crushed Black pepper to it.

Whole Wheat Mathri
Cooking is such a blissful thing which brings me the satisfaction of an artist.Cutting these Mathris before frying, trying to make them look alike is another fun.I used to be a helping hand to Mom as a child.
There is certainly an option, you can use cookie cutters to give them different look.Prick each of the rolled mathri with a fork to avoid puffed up. That’s the trick.I have added a pinch of turmeric for that color.
Wheat Mathri can be stored at room-temperature up to a week. But I am sure it will get over before that.They are so addictive! So make a good quantity.

- 2 cup whole wheat flour
- 2 tbs semolina
- 3 tbsp clarified butter
- 1 tbsp cumin seed
- 1 tsp Turmeric powder
- salt
- water
Ingredients

- In a bowl mix wheat flour , semolina, cumin seed, turmeric powder and salt. Add melted ghee and mix it with finger. You will get a crumb texture.
- Add warm water little by little and form a dough.Don't knead it more.Let it rest for 20 min.Cover with a damp cloth while resting.
- Divide the dough into 5 equal size balls.Roll each ball into circular disc.Use a cookie cutter and cut out small circles.
- Heat oil.Fry them at medium flame both side until done.Cool completely and store in an air-tight box.
