Still there are many more unsung recipes fading by time with lack of interest in learning them by our new generation. Impact of western food among youngsters gradually bringing a drastic change in Indian palate.

Dhaba Style Country-Chicken

Who is not fascinated by Dhaba’s food if set off on a road trip. Dhabas are the road-side eatery joints on Indian highways mostly comprise of one-shed building where you can enjoy the fresh prepared food sitting on cots. Food is very much pocket friendly and there is always a hint of local cuisine in the taste. I found a lot of Dhabas while travelling from Delhi to Chandigarh with some interesting names “Punjab di putar” ,”Sing da Dhaba”, “Sardarji Dhaba” ….And if you are making a plan in winter ,then i am sure you gonna to have the best…

Jamrul Spicy Sip

This fruit is known with many names , wax apple ,rose apple ,jambul ,water apple or simple Jamrul in Oriya. Here in Odisha mostly Jamruls are available which colors ranges from white to pale green. These bell shaped fruits are very pleasant to eyes which helps to improve blood sugar control .Rose Apple possess rich amount of iron, calcium, fiber, Vitamin C, protein and Vitamin A.

Chukku Kappi

 What please you the most in a hot summer day ,of course an unexpected rain in early afternoon ,that pleasant smell of petrichor & to enjoy that moment a cup of Chukka Kappi is what you need. I tried this first time during my Monsoon trip to Wayanad, that beautiful town in Kerala surrounded by lush tea-garden.

Enduri Pitha with Mango Twist/ Mango stuffed Rice dumplings

Pithas are very common in Odisha. In a festive season these are the must. Among the long list of pithas , “Podo Pitha” became famous which is a must during Raja Celebration which occurs in month of June. Similarly “Enduri Pitha” which are must on Prathamasthami celebration in winter. This particular pithas are steamed using turmeric leaves or banana leaves .I have taken this traditional “Enduri Pitha” a level up by infusing fresh Mango in it. The result is really delicious with fresh creamy pulp in each bite.

Summer Fresh

Initially i thought of making a Mojito with fresh Pomegranate , but then i dropped the plan. Mojito is a Soda based drink which can’t be ever considered as “Healthy”.Isn’t it ? To keep yourself fit and healthy is what matters most in today’s world. Do you know soda contains Phosphoric acid which has many side-effects on your body.

Aam-Ras

Mangoes are back, local market is flooded with these golden yellow toned fruits.The fragrance of a ripe mango will surely take your breath . And who doesn’t love this fruit !! It’s a blessing from Nature ,rich in minerals,vitamins these are excellent source of antioxidants too. Aam-ras is nothing but the puree of these Mangoes flavored with cardamom ,dry-ginger (sunthi) etc This is very popular in western Indian states of Maharashtra ,Gujrat & Rajasthan.
