Munnar was always in our Bucket list. So we were rejoiced to travel into the lap of nature in the month of May. The perfect time when Mother Nature is all set to welcome Monsoon. Here I am sharing our unforgettable experience at this Five-star Resort, nestled in misty mountains of Munnar.
Arrival at Chandy’s Windy Woods
12th May, We arrived at this beautiful town on Mother’s Day.The blue dawn and the morning ride was truly amazing from Cumbum to Munnar. That stretch of 70 km through Mountain ghats made us speechless.
The moment we reached at Chandy’s Windy Woods, we could feel welcome vibes in the air. Nestled in a grove of magnificent silver oak trees, this resort has all the charm to take your heart.
The first thing I noticed was Men dressed in beautiful Kerala attire.With a smiling face, they greeted us with flowers and Kasavu stole.
Have you ever seen a Woman in Kasavu Saree? This traditional costume with golden border emerges as one of the finest traditional handloom of Kerala. You can wear a Kasavu Saree during your stay at Windy Woods. All you need to do is ask 🙂

Chandy’s Windy Woods comprises of a series rectangular blocks, distinct in it’s own way. Each of the blocks has been named after an element of nature , Bodhi Tree, Deep Forest etc
Each room is decorated beautifully with graphic motifs , highly inspired by nature . And the moment we lifted the curtain of our Suite Room, verdant views of green slopped mountain were all around. This was accompanied by an untiring misty wind

In-house Forest Tour
Yes, there is a Jungle in the Resort. The enormous faux tree Forest covering the common areas is an attractive feature of this Resort. Be a part of ‘The Enchanting Forest’ tour, which they organize everyday early morning and late in the afternoon.
You can’t miss the mesmerizing sight of an artificial miniature waterfall flows through the roots. The sound of chirping birds and the hiss of the waterfall fills the air creating a forest environment in true sense.
Delicious Kerala Food at Chandy’s Windy Woods
I love Indian food. Local Cuisine has the true essence of any Place. Food connects people to Culture. And when you are in Kerala, never dare to miss Kerala Cuisine. Starting from Appam to Payasam, there are so much to try at Chandys Windy Woods, Munnar.
Our first-day lunch was a satisfying Kerala spread overlooking the Tea-plantation. The multi-cuisine restaurant has an open lovely place. One can feel the clouds while relishing Mutton Roast with fluffy Appam. 🙂
This ‘Karimeen Pollichathu‘ was outstanding. The explosion of flavours was beyond imagination. The fish was wrapped with a banana leaf and cooked with a creamy blend of spices and coconut milk.
A huge spread od South-Indian, as well as North-Indian food, was there in the Breakfast and Dinner Buffet. That’s a glass of Chaya (Tea with Milk) that I enjoyed with Putt and Kadla Curry. A popular breakfast combination in Kerala.
Punarjani Traditional Village, Munnar
This Village is located in the most beautiful region of Munnar. This place is just 5 minutes drive from Chandy’s Windy Woods. Everyday Kathakali and kalarippayattu dance performance happen aimed to please the tourists enhancing the knowledge.

How to Reach Chandys Windy Woods, A Five-star Resort in Munnar
At 5,500ft, Munnar does not have its own airport or Railway station. But well connected by road to various parts of Kerala. The nearest airport and railway station to Munnar is Kochi (130km ).
From Bangalore, there are Private as well as Kerala RTC buses which are easily available. One can also get a direct bus from Coimbatore.
Kodaikanal, the queen of Hill-station is 160 km from Munnar. The road trip through Kolukkumalai Tea Estate is breathtaking. At about 8,000 feet above sea level, Kolukkumalai is the highest tea estate in the world.
